Atlas: A Sound Cartography of Europe (2019)

Audiovisual Event/ Projections

3 digital videos for large scale projection, 50′ each

Atlas is the fruit of a collaboration between the artist and 3 composers (C.E. Cella, D. Kamarotos, V. Tricoli) on a joint commission by IRCAM, ZKM and Onassis Stegi. The project, which took one year to complete, consisted of three electroacoustic concerts occurring via streaming simultaneously in three different cities Paris, Athens and Karlsruhe accompanied by video projections. Both the sound and the image originated from field recordings and video imagery amassed during lengthy drifts in all three cities. The visual result is three different, interrelated meta-city symphony films that explore the complex psychogeographies and rhythms of European cities.

The project was presented on 13/12/2019 at:
– Centre Pompidou- Grande Salle, Paris, France
– ΖΚΜ Centre for Arts and Media- Kubus Theatre, Karlsruhe, Germany
– Onassis Stegi-Central Stage, Athens, Greece
